Strengthening Health Resilience and Cross-Sector Collaboration to Support Sustainable Development Goals
Strengthening Health Resilience and Cross-Sector Collaboration to Support Sustainable Development Goals

Dear ~Contact.FirstName~,

Welcome to the May edition of the AIDF newsletter.

During last week of April, AIDF joined celebrations of the World Immunization Week, highlighting importance of vaccination, and World Malaria Day on 25th April, which raised awareness about the disease prevention programmes across the world. Considering that over 400 million people lack access to essential healthcare, strengthening health systems and integrating immunization with other health services are amongst key priorities for WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, World Bank and UNAIDS.

AIDF also released its second publication Mobile for Development: Transforming Global Healthcare Through Mobile Technology, which is part of the AIDF Mobile for Development series.

Past month also marked anniversary of the devastating Nepal earthquake. The aid and development community focused on lessons and leanings from the disaster with a focus on disaster prevention and sustainable development. The role of social media and emerging technologies in response and recovery operations were also discussed in recent posts by Meg Sattler, Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) and Steven Rynecki, USAID. While a different perspective on mobile technology was taken in Myanmar, where it is used to boost productivity of farmers and empower women.

AIDF Asia Summit 2016 presents a very timely gathering of senior experts from civil society, UN agencies, governments, investors, research institutes and the private sector to improve health resilience and aid delivery through collaboration and use of mobile technologies for humanitarian and development work.

Warm regards,

AIDF Team
